I was asked to re-work an existing project (my Cut & Thrust Aston Martin) to fit the Lotus Evora platform. This required a re-working of the design to fit the new proportions (front mid-engined to rear mid-engined) and the adjusting of key features to fit the new branding. However, I was asked to keep the overall look as close to the previous work as possible. The project never got past the sketch stage, when the financial backers decided to head up a package to save/purchase Saab...
These sketches show the key feature lines have been maintained, as requested, with the exploration of new surfacing and detailing to make sure the car stands up as its own design. The car was to be offered with a hybrid or electric power-plant, potentially alongside a conventional petrol V8. The desire for the environmentally conscience elements to be visible led to the choice of human and animal musculature as the surface and detail inspiration.
