'Spartan' - 2007 - A couple of sketches for a superyacht project I was working on in my spare time...something a bit different.
Main images - Variations on a theme for a 55 metre superyacht - with sketch to illustrate surfacing thoughts above bridge. Main/owners area aft, overlooking swimming pool and beach club area. Guest cabins forward, with crew and galley on the lower deck. An additional lounge is enclosed on the sun deck. Bottom right - Support/Shadow vessel, or Explorer...
Top left - A variation on the 55 metre superyacht, with a more traditional bow. Bottom left - Starting to look at how the hull form and deck forms can be manipulated to provide more usable floor area. Bottom right - Another sketch for a larger superyacht...with development notes. Looking to have very clean, elegant surfaces, with dynamic lines driving forward. The layout makes the most of linked outdoor areas at the aft end, with the main guest accommodation forward, Top right - A profile sketch for a larger superyacht... Again, clean, elegant lines for the decks. Linked outdoor areas at the aft end, with the main guest accommodation forward, and a unifying sculptural element for the centre of the yacht and mast.
A few sketches for a large superyacht... Looking to have very clean, elegant lines. The layout makes the most of linked outdoor areas, with the main guest accommodation forward.
Dynamic Flow 60 metre - Strong line flowing from the buttress and accelerating forward to the bow. Strong horizontal window graphics (single window forward shows investigation into individual windows). Concave hull top surface smooths towards the buttress; which is made up of wooden slats, to both enclose the aft deck and allow a view out when on board. Privacy for the guests, but not disconnected from the sea.
A combination of styles: The larger aft deck is more in keeping with an explorer style yacht, achieved by the short deck above, whilst the long foredeck is more in keeping with a more traditional yacht proportion. I considered two different layouts for the yacht: A - Two storey apartment aft, overlooking family/guest social area and beach club; with a cinema/gym/additional toys forward. B - Owners apartment forward; separate and secluded from the rest of the yacht, only linked by passage through the atrium/balcony area. Work in progress...
Some further development sketches and notes for the ongoing, personal, project (development on exterior sketch render, above)...
