At first I started drawing ideas for different industries: Dentists, a "Comedy Central"-like workspace and last a creative web community. After spending a lot of time doing this not getting anywhere (and not being satisfied with the result I ended up thinking about how good the FedEx logo worked. Therefore I tried working out a delivery companie's new logo!
For the friendly reference i chose "AMIGO" to be the name. Also it has the energetic 'GO'. After a few drawing I dived into Illustrator and toyed around with text and colors.
After getting critique from my group on choice of color I decided to go with orange background and turquoise font color. This seemed to me the most energetic and most of the people who critiqued it liked this one the best.
Something interesting happened when I showed it to Marc. He read "AMIGO" = "FRIEND" and asked me what about making it into a social media app-logo. So I tilted the arrows and added som explanatory text making it a logo for an app where you can find your friends' location.
I ended up with the example to the left sine the "i" is more readable and the added text also links better to the location arrow than the example to the right. The bold font in "friends" and the additional text compliment each other and "your friends" are being contained in this frame.
My final logo came to look like this.
