The Old Pumphouse

Redevelopment Bar Project, Grade II listed building with significant historical features such as the 42 meter high chimney and still stands as a reminder of the historic dock developments and an important landmark in Barry. Derelict since the 50’s in recent years There are a series of spaces within the existing buildings for multiple use including live / work units as well as several commercial uses.
The tenant for one of the units being leased is looking to establish a specialist coffee and rum cafe / bar and asked that we came up with some proposals for the concept and design of this space. The brief asks to focus on the design of one unit in the South Range of the development. The proposed design should look to transform the space into a unique venue that incorporates areas for eating and drinking. The space available is on the Ground Floor and the Basement.
I explored the possibilities of the installation itself being imaginative in its use of materials.
