Dissertation: Architecture of Malaysian National Schools: A Crisis?

This dissertation is about the architecture of Malaysian national secondary schools and the issues surrounding it. The aim of this research is to discover the role of architecture in public secondary schools and their effect on students’ performances. Besides the relationship between the schools’ architecture and the students’ performances, this research also aims to tackle two more major issues: The first one being the overall design of Malaysian schools, which is said to be steeped in historicity and remains unchanged for decades. The next issue is about the future of Malaysian schools: with the introduction of Smart School, could this new blueprint for school design be a solution for the imperfect Malaysian schools?
