This interactive gizmo tower, whose design is based on ancient water lifting devices found in India (see illustration below), gives visitors the opportunity to play with water in the duck pond without actually coming in contact with it. Visitors turn horizontally mounted barrels to drive the mechanism in the tower which in turn raises water up and out of the duck pond. When the water reaches a maximum height of about 10 feet visitors selectively direct the water to pour over a snow shovel water wheel that animates a row of pecking roosters, or toward overhead water tippers before spilling back into the pond. What else would you use snow shovels for in Hawaii?Very Rube Goldberg!
