Saral- Community Facility Center - Saral is a modular, scalable, expandable, user-friendly and eco-friendly facility center for slums and slum-rehabilitation projects. It provides basic toilet and washroom facilities as well as potable water to impoverished communities where basic hygiene and safe drinking water are poorly addressed issues.
Saral- Community Facility Center - The structure utilises modular Plastocrete exterior panels, low-cost Roto-moulded components, plastic extrusions & pultrusions and prefabricated doors and windows that make it a truly low-cost system that can be quickly assembled or transported to and from sites.
Saral- Floor Plan - The floor plan clearly shows the various amenities available.
Saral- Eco aware - Solar panels provide heated water to the washrooms- a basic neccessity in several parts of the country during winter.
Saral- Natural Ventilation - A network of floor-level grills and ceiling apertures makes it possible to induce a natural air flow throughout the structure. This helps in drastically cutting down on power used for ventilation and cooling.
Saral- Rain Water Harvesting - The roof, comprising Roto-moulded components, is fitted with channels and conduits that can easily be adapted to provide rain water harvesting in some of the wetter areas of the country.
Saral- Generating Revenue - Such a facility center cannot be truly self-sustaining if it has to depend on the surrounding slum communities to generate enough revenue to keep it running. Revenue through advertising, or strategic publicity relationships could be a more sustainable model.
Saral- Additional Facilities - Using the same modular elements, Saral can be scaled up to include other facilities such as a primary health center and a community reading room.
