Navigating unfamiliar environments requires an understanding of both one's immediate and greater surroundings
Tesla Touch is a technology that allows one to literally feel an image through a phenomenon called Electrovibration
Tesla Touch gives the blind the capacity to feel things they cannot normally see. Mobi allows the blind to feel a map of their greater surroundings with their fingers
Mobi works in both indoor and outdoor environments. For environments in which no data yet exists, Mobi begins recording it's surroundings using a camera and various sensors and translates that information into a tactile map. The new data is then stored on a server so that others may access it. The more users who navigate a single environment, the more detailed the information becomes.

Tools for the Blind // High Tech

Mobi is a self-contained navigation system that allows the visually impaired to travel indoors and outdoors without the assistance of guides.

Mobi provides the blind with tactile
information about where they are, where they were, and where they’re going using Tesla Touch technology.

By giving the blind a tactile map to reference as they travel they can begin to develop their own mental model of the greater environment around them.

Furthermore, by giving the blind information about indoor environments they can better locate doors, stairwells, or bathrooms without asking for assistance.
