REDESIG AND AUTOMATION OF A MACHINE TO FOLD CANVAS TO PROTECT PAVIMENTS

The improvement of the machine consisted in a mechanical redesign so the project has to achieve the applicant expectations, less weight per unit of support and lower cost. This redesign addresses the selection of the machine elements until the machine divided into two parts, one called trolley -canvas, for working with rolls of canvas from the pavement to the storage area and another one with the principal purpose to fold these canvas, which also includes four motors, three guiding systems, a structure consisting of aluminum profiles and a frame for safety reasons.
Automation has been made using a PLC as controller receive data of different detectors in the machine and to sequence the various engines integrated into the machine, from the time the order is given to position the tubes that support the canvas to place the tubes in the trolley-canvas. To programme the PLC has been used CoDeSys programming system, programme according to IEC 61131-3.
