Cure for Homesick | Award Winner

Given a brief to redesign a local food packaging for overseas Singaporeans, I identified a common condition most experience: Homesickness. They often yearn for the familiarity of home and their favorite foods.

The First Aid Kit concept effectively and interestingly incorporates the idea of providing a “Cure for Homesickness” in this Bak Kut Teh packaging design.

Bak Kut Teh is a Chinese soup popularly served in Singapore, Malaysia, and Mainland China (where there is a predominant Hokkien and Teochew community). The name literally translates as "meat bone tea", which consists of pork ribs simmered in a complex broth of herbs and spices for hours. However, in this busy urban lifestyle, instant formulas are available in local supermarkets.
