new hugging chair

This is a reading chair designed for prolonged, relaxed use. What I produced was a chair which generated a sense of privacy, with aesthetics that suggested animation.
Privacy is increasingly valued especially in large cities where shared spaces are common, there is demand for products which create private space within those shared spaces

I chose a traditional material, rattan, as well as a traditional craft to make people feel natural and close to the furniture. Its asymmetrical, curving wings enclosed the user in a space that felt secure: one felt embraced by the chair, or perhaps held in a large hand. One felt almost taken care of by the chair.
