Violence and crime is part of the day to day in a country where more than 1,000 people are murdered every year. How we cope with it is the question. Do we turn our backs on the issue, live in survival mode, how are we part of the problem? The ever growing abyss between classes can create a false veil, an illusion of what living in Puerto Rico is with money and privilege. But for those who live in underprivileged conditions hearing that your friend, or family member, or someone you know was killed today is part of everyday life.

These are photographs of street signs that are seen daily and yet remain for years unchanged reflecting how numb society has become to living in violence.
