Growing from the California Quail are elements of its habitat, raven's manzanita and beach strawberry. It is surrounded by a colorful, unique and fragile ecosystem. The quail is survaying the land as it stands on top of a serpentine rock which, makes up the soil type for its unique serpentine scrubland and grassland habitat.
