Eject, Shaker and Uno
Eject began with a goal to simplify glucose test strip extraction from the canister. When we delved deeper into the research we found there was a lot more to the problem. Research showed that necropathy a result of too many lancings on the finger tips, made it hard to feel the strips causing many to remove them from the canisters either by placing them in bags or dumping them onto the table and putting them back in when they are done. These acts lead to contamination and moisture, causing strips to malfunction.
Three concepts were focused on a simple way to keep these issues under control. Eject was the more expensive option and had limited strip capacity but the easiest interaction. Shaker was less intuitive but allowed higher strip capacity enabling Lifescan to reduce packaging by selling 50 strip per canister instead of 25. Uno was the final incarnation, taking advantage of the forthcoming Verio strips which have a shoulder allowing the inserted part to catch the strips and hold 50.
