The Shoe Tubes can function as a bench to aid putting on shoes in the entranceway.
Brushed Aluminum housing and interior polypropylene can be washed out if dirty. The color break around the lip indicates a grab point to remove the lid, while providing visual interest.
By storing shoes vertically at least twice as many can fit within the same floorspace. Completely containing them keeps out unsightly clutter and hides smells.
Hexagonal forms seat together with minimal space between. The cushioned tops provide a convenient seat to ease putting on shoes. Their color coordination can be arranged aesthetically or to denote ownership. By allowing the customer to purchase only as many units as they need for this modular system they are encouraged to organize themselves. The customization of arrangement and color also encourages taking the time to think about placement within a space.

Shoe Tubes

A rebranding for organization company Spectrum Diversified Designs. As a group with my fellow design students we created a new brand language, while individually we each created a product within this new line.
My product was the Shoe Tubes, a modular entranceway shoe storage solution.
The entranceways of shared spaces, whether between families or roomates, tend to become cluttered as we transition between inside and out. Footwear in particular is cast aside quite haphazardly. Existing solutions to shoe storage do not allow for the inevitable expansiion, thus encouraging piling and disorganization when the population of shoes reaches its capacity.
As the first area of the house entered a chaotic entranceway leaves a bad impression of the rest of the house and negates the relaxation of coming home.
