WOVEN APPAREL

The brief for this project was to develop a collection of fabrics, for the women wear collection of Anita Dongre’s Global Desi label, which primarily creates Indo-Western garments with an evident ethnic feel, targeting the today's modern Indian women.
My concept for the collection was based on the Madhubani Paintings of the Mithila region of Bihar- its forms, colours and textures. The collection of fabrics , as you will see, reflects the forms, colours and texture of the Madhubani art which is mostly done by women on mud walls of huts.
Considering the brand essence and by using the Madhubani art, I have tried to interpret my ideas on the cloth by using weaving, stitching, pattern making and embroidery as the major techniques.
