The Tree Ring first conceived by Sean Jones, an entrepreneur based in Kenmare. He saw a need for protecting the roots of trees from the destructive blades of lawnmowers. It's a problem we've all come across. The Tree Ring also serves as a means of maintaining the area at the base of a tree which is, more often than not, quite difficult to keep looking tidy.
In the above image you can see a prototype being tested. The product comprises of 3 identical parts that clip together to form a closed ring. A weedproof membrane is also proved to cover the base of the tree. Decorative stones, mulches etc can be placed on top to further tidy the area.
A full packaging solution was also devised for the product utilizing sustainability friendly materials and production methods.
A complete identity was designed for Borderline. One that is subtle yet visually attractive. A simple combination of white and a deep forest green are used throughout the brand and is accompanied by a custom-type logo.
