Castle Gate - A solid composition with an interesting depth of field. The stonework in the walls, the natural beauty of the steps leading down to the sea appealed.
Twilight - An interesting composition which shows a street of wooded shacks set in deep valley. The image was taken from an old postcard of a village in Austria.
Industry - I spent the day cycling the towpath of the Leeds Liverpool canal between Saltaire and Bingley. I photographed some old buildings and ducks on the canal bank. Then I came across the Dammart building. Its fierce scale was imposing. The canal drags off in two directions while the building shoots upwards. I sketched, then photographed the scene in three shots.
River Side - The original image was taken from a postcard. The beauty in the depth and clarity of the scene rang out. A combination of natural and manmade structures gives a good balance.
Director's Chair - I spent an hour drawing a climbing plant growing from a reclaimed chimney pot sat on wooden decking. After this I quickly sketched a chair at the far end of the decking. I added the plant the following day because the composition was missing something.
