In Photoshop, I burned the background to make it black and dodged the whites of the blanket and the bed. I also added a yellower tone to our faces to recreate the yellow tone of the original

Family Recreation
For recreating a picture, I realized that it is difficult to get the correct lighting for a picture and to also stage in it the same way. Getting the exact same picture is almost impossible.
