Tensegrity Playground

A playground allows children to run, climb, fall, and learn. It is Tour task as designers to create engaging environments to encourage the learning process. The structural stability of the playhouse depends on a balance of tension and compression and acts as an interactive demonstration of static equilibrium.
The playhouse borrows its sculptural quality from the constructivist work of Kenneth Snelson. Its aesthetic expression of visual transparency allows the viewer to read and understand the structure by following the flow of forces. Similar to Froebel Gifts, the playhouse is a didactic tool that encourages haptic interaction to familiarize the user with a basic understanding of statics.
