Namu is a chair that encourages solitude and self contemplation, it is low and wide in proportions, with a a quiet presence in the room. Perfectly suitable for meditation.
Namu is reduced to its most basic elements composed of 3 components: molded plywood seat, steel frame with washers, and 4 screws to hold the chair together.
A simple one body Baltic birch plywood bend with White Oak veneer and steel legs allows for a fast and cost efficient manufacturing process. The seat has through holes for the screws and the large washers function as a simple solution to distribute weight evenly throughout the chair and add a character of playfulness. Namu can be assembled together very quickly and also be shipped disassembled to ensure safer shipment.
