4. Urban Reconstruction - Mogadishu, Somalia

For 21 years, Mogadishu has been ravaged by violent war. In August 2011, militant group abandoned the city under the pressures of environmental famine and multifront conflicts with the African Union. Three months later, I was contacted by the office of the Mayor of Mogadishu to see what can be done.

With limited international resources, Mogadishu is faced with a daunting task to rebuild and change. My own initiatives are designed to maximize existing assets and to facilitate the psychological transformation to build a culture of stability and economic growth.
