Accessible myoelectric hand "handiii" (2013) Awards: - JAMES DYSON AWARD 2013 international Runners-up(2nd prize) - iF design GOLD award 2015 - The 18th Japan Media Arts Festival Excellence Award - Gugen 2013 grand prix - TODAI TO TEXAS 2nd prize
Concept: - Revised manufacturing process - Easy to exchange parts - Personalized design This prosthetic hand is prototype that users can control intuitively using muscle signals measured on the amputated end. Such technology has been commercialized, however, there remains critical problems which are: - Extremely expensive($10,000~$40,000) - Difficult to repair - Homogeneous design (design to conceal the lost hand) This prototype "handiii" reduces costs by using and 3D printer and app-based smartphone technology that collects muscle signals.
