While Guinness sells very well around St. Patrick’s Day and at Irish bars, the goal of the “Guinness &” promotion is to increase sales all year and convert new drinkers by branding the old Irish pub tradition of floating Guinness over a half-pint of another beer. Sales for Summer 2009 were up over 20 percent in the Dallas area. Guinness is now running the promotion internationally.
