SPANISH BEAUTY: During the 2007-2009 recession I found this despairing story from the owner of an Andalusian horse ranch in Spain. This breed is exceptional on so many levels with its ancestry dating back thousands of years. The ranch had been in his family for generations and he was literally begging anyone from anywhere to come take his horses, for free, because he could no longer care for them. This painting went through two previous stages while I contemplated how to tell his story; resulting in this peaceful transition from a tragic tale to a field of beauty.
