Cycle Cafe' - We recently completed another successful Cycle Lab store, which we're very proud of, in Pietermaritzburg KZN, South Africa. The space was an old car dealership showroom and much of the interior space was re-built by the landlord. Magazine rack in keeping with the tree theme As with all out-of-town sites the project wasn't without its challenges; especially when as pedantic about quality and detail as we are. Much of the on-site construction time was shared with other contractors (working on the building structure for the Landlord). Thanks to a strong team of contractors, some meticulous project management by time&space and supportive clients we pulled off this installation without a hitch! Cafe' colours and artwork An exciting part of the installation, for us, is the cafe' which is quite unique in the sense that not many retail environments sport a cafe' area for its patrons. The design for the Cafe' is simple and comfortable. The main aim was to create a space that is relaxing, durable and a visual break from the Cycle Lab look. The theme is based on 'urban nature' whereby natural colours and imagery contrast the charcoals and greys of city life. This reminds one of the synergy of both city and nature as seen from the back of a bike. The idea here is to offer a great coffee and home-made muffins and sandwiches to the local cycling set. After a long club ride, particularly on weekends, one can relax with the crowd and relive the morning's ride. as everybody knows; Pietermaritzburg and the surrounding, famous, Midlands are renowned for amazing Mountain biking trails. So- if your a mountain biking enthusiast- when next in the KZN area, why not get in touch with the Cycle Lab Club team and enquire about a weekend ride!
