Folded Paper Hypar Installation
This parametrically designed installation is a group project executed for a 3rd-year masters advanced computing course. The finished product is a prototype for an atrium pavilion, informed by the spatial, lighting, and acoustic needs of the space. Bypassing the typical top-down or bottom-up approach to design, we used a hyperbolic paraboloid surface geometry tessellated into folded apertures. Each piece is unique, created from laser cut and folded bristol board. Several iterations of joinery and fabrication techniques were tested throughout the semester.
