Life at Work On-Demand Office

This contemporary office is designed to accommodate the needs of today's work force, in which employees use the space as-needed. Our team's concept combines the most favorable aspects of home and work, fostering an environment of casual interaction, convenience and creativity. Employees share the library, kitchen, workshop, fitness center, garden, and day care with roof playground. The idea of a meandering path, along which employees circulate and engage with each other, is intrinsic to the design. Each level is split into two offset floor plates, radiating around the building's core. At each stair connection between plates, a void condition occurs, allowing a transitional space and visual connection to the exterior. The facade is perforated to provide sun shading and the voids at the communal areas are enveloped in folded plates of glass. Requirements of the course called for a comprehensive design: a full set of construction documents as well as supporting conceptual material.
