Oakland International Airport - The design frames air travel within the context of discovery and exploration and question how the airport can support this interpretation. The hidden possibility of novel experiences and unexpected opportunities in transit motivates the design. As a transitional space between departure and destination, the airport has to engage the traveler on his own terms. Within this space, the meanings of air travel are personal but contested.
