_site-responsive design - louvers on the south-facing wall: public cafe [top floor] and ms. langsam's bedroom, living and dining rooms

_private botanical terrace - falling water can be seen from the road, but the pool where it collects is blocked from sight. two-fold purpose: privacy for ms. langsam in her garden, and to draw guests--curious to see more of the water feature--to the studio.
_guest movement - one car garage and internal circulation
_with nature, not against it - deconstructed cylinder light well, three-story space
_due diligence - the central core has a circular exterior surface, but is a set of 16 planes on the interior for hanging paintings
_balanced composition - geometrical alignments
_flexibility of uses - two enclosed studios, for an artist never knows where inspiration will hit. one east-facing private space off of the bedroom and one more public space in the central core.
