Sidebar Taipei is a compound bar which sells coffee in the daytime and cocktails at night. Furthermore, it sells clothes only in daytime; inside, a speakeasy is hidden behind a metal door; a rental place is provided on 2nd floor, which is a flexible for exhibitions or classes.
The site is located in central Taipei in an old concrete building over 30 years old, in order to preserve the characters of the site, we kept most part of the original common wall, by creating some openings on it, separating and connecting functions perfectly existing together.
The speakeasy is a gin bar, which aims to promote diverse gins from all over the world. There’s a gin museum (MVSEO DEL GIN) at the entrance; inside, different gin bottles were made into suspension lamps, as well as wall lamps connecting to the distiller on the metal pipe made liquor shelf through the copper tubes underneath the ceiling.
