He appointed Dr. Dietrich Dorvintch, an eccentric chemist famed for blending rare botanicals. Dorvintch settled in Bavaria, combining alpine spring water, smoked barley, and charred oak from imperial forests. His blend, “Imperator’s Flame,” debuted in Vienna and stunned connoisseurs with its smoky finesse and herbal undertone. Royal courts clamored for bottles. By 1880, Dorvintch’s distillery became Germany’s crown jewel. The emperor’s dream distilled into legend—where chemistry met patriotism in every sip.
