Braun Coffee Maker - The "coffee maker of the future." The Braun 2000 is a stylish, programmable, three-cup coffee maker and grinder. Simply add the coffee beans above the filter head, pour water down the grill and program. It was designed for the simple purpose of aesthetic exploration. It is hand sculpted out of high-density foam and cured with Bondo.
Reebok Muscle Shoe - Reebok sets the standard when it comes to advances in footwear. Therefore, before I lifted a pencil, researching new technology was priority. Muscle wire is a nickel titanium based alloy widely used in prosthetics. Its morphing properties allowed me to design a "smart shoe". Pill shaped sensors located beneath the shoe and powered by an energy cell, tell the muscle wire to expand & contract with in a conforming sock throughout the shoe. Each individual wire adjusts to key movements in cross-training.
Submarine Project - As a kid I've always been fascinated with traveling underwater. When I realized that my dream was possible, I began construction on a one manned submarine. Mainly constructed with plywood and marine adhesive, the sub was laminated with fiberglass and sealed with gelcoat. To achieve buoyancy, I used four scuba tanks to pressurize the ballast tanks on each side.
S2 Project - In the process of learning to how to animate in 3D Studio Max, I took the opportunity to design yet another, more efficient submersible. After a series of sketches and wooden mock-ups, I designed a construction model using Alias Wavefront Software. Having carefully planned and built my new design in the virtual environment, allowed me to better understand aspects in manufacturing. I now hold a patent for my submarine design and plan to acquire funding for future underwater experiments.
APEx Show Exhibit - At General Motors I had the freedom to jump from transportation to product design. In this exhibit project, I was in charge of designing APEx's annual exhibit show. The objective was to create an interactive environment to showcase our design process & services. As one would move about a futuristic ambience, they would encounter a series of enlarged cylinder shapes that would display information inside. One would enter them and be enclosed while learning about our design strategies. The installation was designed, animated and rendered using Studio Paint and Alias Wavefront Software.
