Design Process: I sketched on trace paper, built models, and made sun/shadow diagrams in Google Sketchup in order to help make plentiful iterations before creating the final design.
This is a diagram showing how members of the community interact with the green spaces in the cooking school.
I gained experience making diagrams and having them aid to my design process. For example, I made sun and shadow diagrams because there is not much sun in Denmark and the Danes spend time in places that utilize sun and warmth. As well, I made connectivity diagrams showing where different users in the community would enter the space.
By the end of the project, I gained spatial knowledge and explored how people interact with and think about spaces. Some of the new realms I explored were how to give a space a particular feeling or atmospheres, how environmental factors affect design, and how preexisting community biases affect design.
