Skin Trade - Compact Disk Design
(4 7/8" x 5 3/8")
Carefully selected photographs were
manipulated in photoshop for a consistent color palette. Also a small section of each photo was highlighted with color to reinforce the CD’s provocative theme.
A sans-serif font was used to avoid competition between the elements of the edgy composition. Rather than using a hub or conventional CD tray, a pouch was crafted using a piece of fishnet stocking to add visual surprise.
Awake in the Dream - Book Cover Design (10" x 24")
Metaphorical design for the cover of a fictional autobiography.
Two photos were selected and overlapped to illustrate the title of the book. The colors of both photos were exagerated, bringing up the brighter tones of the sunflowers and blue sky while enhancing the shadows of the night picture.
The type was treated with blend modes to integrate it as part of the cloudy sky.
Snow Leopards - Postage Stamp Design (1" x .75",
1" x 1.25")
Engaging images were chosen for each stamp. Because the focus of the postage stamps is the snow leopard, the background images were faded so they would not compete with the animals.
The color palette was chosen from the colors on the background to accentuate the cool colors and create a sense of coldness consistent with the snow leopard’s natural habitat.
Cherry Blossoms - Tunnel Book Design (4" x 6")
Cherry Blossoms was hand-crafted using photo paper, cardstock and rice paper (cover).
The book’s tunnel effect was created by repeating the image on the book’s 6 pages. To make it appear as though the tunnel recedes, the center of each photo was cropped larger than the preceding photo following the outlines of the trees and path.

Peace is Gentle - Poster Design (11" x 17")
Poster designed with the purpose of supporting the mission of Kids are Heroes, an organization that strives to empower children by teaching them that they can make a difference in the world.
The poster was intended for a 4 to 8 year-old demographic, therefore it was important to keep the message clean and simple. A soft color palette was selected to go with the powerful but gentle messages of the poster.
Chérettes - Poster Design (11" x 17")
The design incorporates a “Chérette”, the most popular element of Chéret’s design. The smokestacks represent Chéret’s rise to fame during the years of the Industrial Revolution. The Chérette rises from the smoke, elevating the art of poster design to new heights.
The poster’s image successfully combines a contemporary layout with elements of the Belle Epoque to celebrate a nineteenth century master of design.
Nature of Architecture - Magazine Layout (11" x 17")
Two–page magazine spread featuring award–winning Japanese architect Tadao Ando.
The layout was designed to follow along the lines of the simple and elegant Asian aestheric. Hiragana characters were researched to write both the title architect (on the left) and Mr. Ando’s name(on the right). The color palette was chosen to honor the Japanese flag with the addition of golden yellow for highlight.
Namaste - T-shirt Design
T-shirts designed for a yoga studio in the spirit of Namaste (The God/Goddess Spirit within me recognizes and honors the God/Goddess Spirit within you).
The men’s design incorporates vector images of bamboo and the ohm symbol, while the female version uses lotus flowers and a butterfly. The color palettes were chosen to complement each other as part of a set, even though they work well by themselves, thus reinforcing the message of unity and harmony.
Design Intelligence - Poster Design (18" x 24")
Poster for Intelligent Design exhibition.
The charcoal and pencil drawing was given a black border to establish the drawing as the focus of the piece. The off-center placement on the black frame and the white background are meant to reinforce the illusion of depth within the drawing by creating a window into the drawing. The poster’s title and tagline incorporate the red found within some of the drawing’s elements for unity and contrast.
Lizzie's News - eNewsletter Design (5" x 7")
Electronic newsletter designed for Lizzie Luv Creations, a jewelry cyber-boutique that specializes in handmade jewelry.
Careful consideration had to be given to text and image placement to create a composition that conveyed a sense of the exclusivity of the jewelry. The final layout was designed to be tastefully playful and user-friendly.
Continuum - Book Design (7" x 7")
Visual definitions book that explores the evolution of the written word through centuries of typographic development.
I Know a Secret - Brochure Design (closed 6.125" x 5.75",
open 16" x 28.25")
Brochure for Momiji Collectible Dolls.
The brochure is designed in the shape of a Chinese take-out box to imitate the packaging of some of the dolls. Because the main feature of the Momiji dolls is a “secret” compartment where a message for the recipient can be hidden, the brochure’s pages were constructed using a pull-down accordion structure meant to resemble the mechanics of the secret compartment.
Journey of Truth - Poster Design (11" x 17")
Joyas de Mi Herencia Borincana - Handmade Book Design
(various structures) (5" x 7")
The poems were selected for their poignant reflection of life in Puerto Rico. Each book was crafted using a different structure to better reinforce its poem’s message. To unify the set, all the books, including the colophon were built using the same materials: banana and coffee paper, which are products that have been produced and used in the island since colonial times.
