This is the working prototype that allowed the audience to experience some functionality like browsing ,playing audio files and copying files from one hard disk to another. I used a camera and the Fiducial markers to track the modules and sense which modules are connected together. The browsing module (seen in the bottom right corner) uses two static magnetic field switches and a magnet attached to the rotating screen to sense when the screen has been turned 180 degrees.

Modular remote control

This remote control suggests a different way to look at controlling multiple media devices, instead of a function approach I implemented a component approach. The remote is a set of modules that represent different components present in the user's home entertainment system. The user directly controls the signal flow by physically connecting sending modules like a TV tuner to a receiving module like the TV screen. Another unique feature of this remote is a rotating double sided screen that acts as a browser of contents e.g when connected to the TV tuner module, the browser switches channels but when connected to the hard disk module, it browses through the media files on the hard disk.
