Turning ideas into experiential prototypes — Eindhoven, Netherlands

Tent with integrated lights

During this team project the challenge was to find a use for a thin conductive fiber being produced by Bekintex, part of Bekaert. We designed a tent with the fiber threaded along the edges of the inside tent which guided electricity to various points in the tent where little light modules could be attached to provide white light, replacing the need for a flashlight, especially useful during reading at night.

Experimenting with colored lighting, serving to set a mood on the inside as well a colorful atmosphere on the outside, especially suitable for festivals.
Three light modules placed at various places inside the tent.
The two roles show the conductive metal fiber/thread. On the table are the light modules we 3D printed and fitted with four LEDs.
