Aaron McGahan McCann

I am a First year student studying Computer Games Development in Magee, Ulster University. My portfolio revolves around my desire to become a 3D modeler or a concept artist for the games industry. To acquire the skills I need to become a desired candidate for the job I want, I realised I need to jump straight into this world of design and the elements which I am not familiar with. I downloaded design software which companies want their employees to be proficient in, such as 3DS Max, Maya, Unity etc. While I am currently not even a beginner level designer, I am constantly practising and pushing myself to find out more about the design industry and its software. Being aware that my traditional sketching methods would be required too, I have been constantly sketching to improve my skills as an artist,and use a variety of drawing utensils, such s pencils and pens.

To become noticable in the industry, I want to showcase the skills I have gathered and will continue to hone in my years in design.

I have worked in different retail environments, which mean i have gained skills in communication, teamwork, initiative and product knowledge, one of which was HMV Xtravision, a retail store which deals in the supply of DVDs and games. Therefore I was on a consumer level with customers, and found out what games they sought for, what types of characters they desired. It has helped me understand the gaming culture beyond my own personal style.
