Ainsley Parker is an apparel designer based in Richmond, Virginia, and a student of the VCUarts Fashion Design program with a minor in business. Her creative practice originated in graphic design, a foundation that continues to shape her approach to fashion through balancing geometric precision with light, atmospheric elements. Specializing in tailoring, embellishment, and handcraftsmanship, Ainsley designs with the intention of fostering human connection and encouraging sustainable modes of consumption.
For the past two years, Ainsley has worked as a research assistant for PopUpStop, a VCUarts research organization dedicated to educational outreach on fashion consumption. In 2024, she helped lead a collaborative partnership with the Richmond City Marathon that diverted over 2,500 pounds of textile waste from landfills. Alongside her research work, she styles formal and bridal wear at Lex’s of Carytown, where she builds lasting client relationships through a deep understanding of garment construction and alterations.
In the summer of 2025, Ainsley completed a ten-week internship on the Kohl’s private label boys’ design team, where she contributed to the design and development of woven and knit tops, swimwear, and woven bottoms for the Summer and Fall 2026 seasons. Working within a highly collaborative corporate environment, she supported the team through working across platforms like Browzwear, PLM software, and the Adobe suite to support efficient product development. Her experience spans women’s, men’s, and children’s apparel, and she is also a 2026 Fashion Scholarship Fund award recipient.
