Visual Merchandising Designer
George Town, Cayman Islands
Nov 2013 - Present (7 years 7 months)
Responsible for planning and executing in-store product displays, designing custom fixtures and store layouts, as well as designing occasional off-site events.
Kirk Market is a high-end grocery store in the Cayman Islands. It has recently undergone a re-branding to parallel the likes of Whole Foods in the USA. As Visual Merchandising Designer, I plan and execute displays to feature product that will step up the overall look and feel of the Kirk Market brand throughout the store, which, in turn, increases sales overall.
I have had numerous opportunities to exercise my degree in Industrial Design with the design and production of various store fixtures and interior layouts for a better customer experience.
May 2013 - Aug 2013 (3 months)
Concept work designing product packaging, exhibits and displays, as well as hands-on showroom design and set-up at the Americas Mart in downtown Atlanta, GA.
Jul 2011 - Oct 2012 (1 year 3 months)
Along with common management tasks of managing associates and opening /closing the store, I ran the seasonal floor-sets, meaning I oversaw the changing of the sales floor from Spring to Fall to Holiday as well as occasional Sales Events. Corporate Office would send a directive of how they wanted the store to look, and I carried out that concept. This role gave me the opportunity not only to put my management skills to work, but also to get exposed to Interior Design merged with Exhibit/Point-of-Purchase Design.
