Àngel Méndez Rull

My name is Àngel Méndez Rull, I am a Spanish industrial designer, born in Barcelona with more than 14 years of experience in the design of consumer products, medical and industrial equipment, sport shoes and bathroom appliances.

I see design is the constant struggle in search of an equilibrium between what is desirable and what is feasible, between ideal, and optimized, while using the least form possible to attain the maximum function. It is a game to find the essential and discard what is just superficial, to make simple and understandable products, useful and long lasting for the user, profitable for the manufacturer, and with the minimum impact for the environment.

My career highlights include:

Working in more than 48 projects as a designer and product developer for several design consultancies internationally (Carrera Design Barcelona, Teams Design Hamburg, CDN Barcelona)

Collaboration in the design of 3 bathroom appliance collections together with international architects

Working on the design and surface development of a family of forklift trucks for Still Germany

Implementing 3D modelling workflows at Joma Sport Toledo

Teaching several workshops in advanced modelling (Rhino and Alias Studio Tools) at Muthesius Kunsthochschule Kiel

My strong points as a designer are:

A very creative yet organized mindset. I like to be involved in the project from concept to development, and have a holistic approach to design.

Extensive experience in modeling in several CAD packages, from speed concept modeling in surface tools, to solid modeling for development and manufacture

In depth knowledge of materials and processes, especially of plastic and PUR molding, metal sheet development and vitreous china.
