The Monster in the Dark
I wanted to create an object that is both physically and emotionally comforting to a child afraid of the dark.
The forms both male and female (Nova, Luna) are intentionally not of this world. Which in turn doesn’t limit them to “realistic” abilities, for the evil monsters we are dealing with do not follow any “realistic” guidelines. Nova and Luna’s powers and strengths are left to be discovered.
Among the many traits to be discovered, both Nova and Luna also have the ability to act as lanterns. Their light scares away the monsters or maybe just reveals that there were never any to begin with. Regardless, both Nova and Luna can ensure a monster-free trip down a dark hallway.
