About
Hi, My name is Geavanna Torres. I am an up and coming fashion designer. Im currently studying to obtain a BFA in Fashion Design at Otis College of Art and Design located in Los Angeles, CA. My time being in Otis' fashion program has prepared me for working in the fashion industry. I have learned to design clothing for women, men, and children. Along with working on smaller projects, my Junior and Senior year has focused on Mentor Projects.
These (Mentor Projects) allowed me to have a hands on experience working with fashion companies. The companies I had the opportunity to mentor with were Nanette Lepore, Lucky Brand, Bally, and Libertine Clothing. For Nanette I designed and created swimwear for women and children. For Lucky brand a created a bohemian inspired outfit targeted towards juniors and young women. My mentorship with Bally focused on designing traditional women'' tailored garments that echo Bally's heritage of its brand. The Libertine project was based off of their eclectic and maximalist aesthetic. The direction for the collection was inspired by aliens and their spaceships. -

• Created highly embellished samples including beading, crystals, and embroidery.

Bally MentorshipLos Angeles, CASep 2017 - Jan 2018 (4 months)• Designed a womens‘ FALL collection celebrating Bally‘s heritage and tailored aesthetic.
• Researched traditional outerwear silhouettes and redesigned them with a modern twist.
• Used bespoke tailoring techniques to construct garment. -

• Created Tech packs and Line Sheets. Sent out cads and comments to Production.
• Researched global and domestic markets to stay current with trends.
• Commented on Lab dips and print strike offs.
• Assisted in fitting swim and apparel garments. Took fitting notes for Design Director.

• Measured customers and fitted them precisely to their correct size.

Lucky Brand MentorshipLos Angeles, CAOct 2015 - May 2016 (7 months)• Designed and Illustrated women’s dresses for Lucky Brand’s mentorship
collaboration displayed in Otis’ Annual Scholarship Benefit and Fashion Show.
• Fabricated multiple cohesive color stories for my entire collection of designs.
• Produced detailed handwork samples that included beading and embroidery.
• Collected found objects and incorporated them into my designs. -
Nanette Lepore MentorshipLos Angeles, CAAug 2015 - Dec 2015 (4 months)• Designed women and girl swimsuits for Nanette Lepore’s Summer 2016 collection
featured in the Otis’ College Fashion Show 2016.
• Acquired skills in draping and sewing Lycra fabric.
• Experienced working with women and children models for garment fittings.
• Collaborated with my Lucky Brand team to organize a cohesive collection. -
