Kun Zhou

Chartwell is a wholesaler for big box retailers and Dollar Chains, like Walmart, Dollar Tree, and Family Dollar. My work includes testing new materials, doing field work research, and exploring and developing new product concepts. A lot of our products are art driven, impulsive buying, or novelty products. I also did communication with manufacturers for quotes of new products and concepts.

I was involved in various product design projects, such as ceiling air filter, intravenous drip controller, camping light, fabric steamer. Through practice, I realized the significance of design holism. Clients’ opinions, marketing, manufacture process, material, cost, and time consumption, all of them had to be taken to design process. I also noticed the gap of communication between designer and stakeholder, engineer, marketing, or people from other fields.
