Whilst continuing to manage the design work for a roster of world class clients, as a part of the Executive team I’m responsible for:
Key decision making - Ensuring that our strategy for growth is supported by appropriate action in all areas of the business.
Leadership - Creating a culture of excellence, promoting the values of quality, creativity, and engagement in all that we do.
Team development - Recruitment, coaching and training of permanent staff, managing freelance resources. Performance reviews and support for professional development.
New brand development - Chapel Street. A 100+ piece collection designed and launch in under 6 months. The project included an e-commerce ready web platform, branding, marketing and exhibitions. I provide direction in all areas.
‘White Label’ development - Design & production improvements for our COM to retail customers, developing new product lines alongside merchandising teams to meet expected quality, performance and delivery criteria.
Exhibitions & Showrooms - I work closely with the sales and production teams to showcase product and service innovations in unique and ways. Recently Whistler Leather moved into a showroom that I designed, delivered with the Whistler Leather team.
Process improvements - Implementing new design to production workflows that have reduced lead time and errors, increased throughput and quality. Enhancements of in house purpose built scheduling software used to manage our just-in-time bespoke manufacturing.

Ben Whistler is a specialist bespoke furniture manufacturer, producing high-end pieces for projects including restaurants, hotels, and private residences all over the world.
Responsible for managing the design and development of up to 2000 unique bespoke pieces a year through the in house design team. Designing bespoke furniture in any style or materials with complete 3d modeling and detailed manufacture drawings.
Extensive knowledge of cabinetry and upholstery design, materials, manufacturing techniques and finishing processes. Working with a varied supplier base in the UK and abroad to support just-in-time manufacturing whilst maintaining the highest quality possible in build and finish.
Overseeing the migration of the companies’ design to production process from analogue to digital, and from 2d to 3d. Process improvements to safeguard the companies' investment in design, resulting in increased throughput and profitability.
Implementation of ‘White Label’ design and manufacturing service for high volume retail customers.
Design and launch of an industry first mobile app for Whistler Leather.
