This chart to change speeds on a drill press was very cumbersome, so I made 7 changes to make it more functional. Can you spot them all?
This is a really good example of the information design work I can do. Most people can't analyze problems like this, much less propose and implement solutions. Effective changes like this can improve productivity, reduce errors and accidents, and improve employee retention.
Pretty amazing that there were all these things 'wrong' with this one, simple chart.
It revealed some interesting things. Like for instance, in the new chart, it's easy to see that pulley #2 is in fact only used for one speed. Analysis like this can be used to simplify designs and reduce manufacturing costs.
