Peter Wells

I manage the industrial design and engineering product development process for home decor in cabinet, bath and functional hardware. I'm responsible for the front end design process ranging from problem definition, capturing and analyzing consumer research, to brainstorming ideas and visualizing concepts. A large part of my job is to study trends in the market place for NPD initiatives and develop new and innovative products for the market place.

I’m the senior project engineer of industrial design and engineering. My role requires me to lead the
NPD programs for home décor, kitchen and batch decorative products. I manage the industrial design
and engineering responsibilities and processes. There is one design engineer who I manage and
mentor. I also manage contract industrial designers or design companies to assist with creative
objectives. My responsibilities also include overseeing our Asian project engineering team for facilitating
supplier support. I’m heavily involved in the concept development phases, CAD, prototyping, rendering
and presentation of final design direction, as well as the engineering drawing specifications for
manufacturing, FAI and product data management. My position requires me to stay on top of product
trends, research new technologies, travel overseas and inspire our sales and marketing team with new
competitive products. I help bring forth the commercialization of many SKU’s, following Amerock’s
product roadmap for business growth each year.

R&D / Project Management As project engineer I was part of the R&D engineering team responsible for new product development (NPD) and sustaining product engineering for the Hardware category within the Décor Global Business Unit (GBU), which includes the Levolor, Kirsch and Amerock brands. Primary responsibilities include project management and design engineering for the development of new products through a stage gate process. I managed and assisted on projects with net sales from 500K to 5M. I lead cross-functional teams while assisting as an R&D product engineer, providing design reviews and engineering details for the development of new products. Panella Engineering & Development Center I was the lead design engineer for industrial design and product development. I created and developed a variety of new plastic blow molded packaging containers across many segments and customers. I worked with plastic injections closure companies, fillers, labelers and test labs for the complete package design, to properly showcase the brand its products shelf life. I oversaw conceptual designs and engineering product drawings. Managed out sourced ID work. Assisted the Director of Creative Design and VP of Marketing & Design with project reports, project timelines, design project status, marketing research involvement and studio budgets. I was also responsible for studio operations, which included rapid prototype development, workshop inventory, hardware, and software purchases and new design tool proposals. I helped ensure customer design intent and product aesthetics exceeded the customer's expectations on projects. Involved in tool quotes and package requirements for our manufacturing plants and business standards. The plastic packaging design work and leadership I provided had helped generate company patents, and millions in revenue on a yearly basis for the automotive, food, beverage, dairy, household chemical, specialty chemical and water segments.

Network & Quality Engineering The position involved central office engineering and project management, which was responsible for quality service to our customers and their telephone central office equipment orders. Performed field engineering site surveys, developed CAD engineered planned layouts, and BOM's for upgrading customer office growth. Project management responsibilities involved project tracking, quality inspection, installation oversight, new product guidelines, installation instructions and product order fulfillment. I worked on multiplexers, cross-connectors, splitters, fiber LGX bays, BDFBʼs, cable rack environment setups, fiber management systems installs, and layout for AC & equipment grounding installation. As senior lead I trained and mentored new employees assisting in their career growth.

Displacement Blowers & Vacuum Pumps I was responsible for mechanical engineered product designs, BOM's, assemblies and inspecting mechanical setup proposals for new customer projects. Engineered and modified part designs, specifications and installation drawings. I assisted in the development of product data management by building CAD database hierarchies for efficient product parts and assemblies filing.

The Michael Graves projects included working with architects and their designs, building small-scale architectural models using AutoCAD and Laser CAM. I trained and supervised model projects for small design team. Responsible for CAD design drawings, productivity enhancements, Laser CAM setup and operations, material purchasing and inventory management, timely deliverables and customer collaboration. Projects with WHITE LIGHT DESIGNS included scaled prototype designs for Nike, Walt Disney, Sea Quest T.V. series logo designs and others.
