In old cities such as Florence, Italy there are many challenges in designing new environments in preexisting spaces. There is a demand to stay current but a necessity to preserve the historical integrity. Another challenge is the space itself. Many times they are site specifi c and crammed in between two other buildings. This forces the
space to be long, narrow and often awkward.
