Jack Kerouac and the Writer's Life

Museum: Palace of the Governors
Location: Santa Fe, NM
Scope: 3,000 sf
Budget: $6,500
Role: Exhibit designer and production manager

This exhibition for the Palace of the Governors showcased the "stream of consciousness" artifact that is Jack Kerouac's manuscript scroll for his epic writing: "On the Road". For this exhibition we used large format imagery and projected video of jazz performances to build context of the beat era. We also invited visitors to try their own hand at using an Underwood typewriter to craft haiku and their own "on the road" journal entry. The addition of the typewriter experience followed the traveling exhibition and was recreated at other gallery destinations across the US.
