Carnegie Museum of Natural History ranks in the top five natural history museums in the United States. While Director of Exhibition Experience at the museum, Becca participated in the leadership team, gained insight into inclusive and cooperative processes, and ensured successful outcomes that leadership stakeholders saw themselves in. Her background value-engineering visitor experience installations that meet museum standards, planning relevant, signature experiences that delight visitors, and producing world-class tech and aesthetic, ensured satisfaction with the large capital investments made in her council.

Increased Visitation
During her tenure at the museum, Becca more than doubled family audience attendance by adding interactivity, multimedia, participatory and immersive experiences to the museum's galleries, renovating over 30% of the museum’s 100,000sf of public gallery space.
Strategic Departmental Growth
Becca re-envisioned and built a new exhibitions experience department, newly inclusive of tech creatives, after a similar department had been eliminated from the museum in 2012. Becca created a master interpretive plan for the exhibitions at the museum, in collaboration with museum leadership, as well as a site maintenance plan in collaboration with facilities, conservation, and exhibit technician staff. Becca controlled her operational budget, managed endowed funds, and created valuable internal partnerships and businesses within Carnegie to fund and execute major improvements to the visitor experience at the museum, including more relevant and inclusive messaging.

Museum Design & Master Planning Consultancy
Andrew Merriell & Associates [AM&A] was an exhibit design consultancy that partnered with creative professionals across the museum field. AM&A assembled specialized teams to serve museums in their unique needs for architecture, interpretive master planning, and exhibition design. Andy Merriell led the architectural initiatives while Becca Shreckengast managed the exhibit projects utilizing partners and contract services for graphic design, content development, AV system design, multimedia design & production, as well as fabrication & installation.

Large Exhibition Project Design and Fabrication Administration
At AM&A, Becca produced contract scope of work statements, led the exhibit development and design of simultaneous architectural projects in partnership with scientists and curators, managed multimedia, coordinated with architects of record and general contractors; and oversaw the bid process and contractor performance to ensure projects opened on schedule, and within budget, to $16.2m.

The Exhibits Central Office, under the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs, manages the exhibit design, fabrication, artifact preparation, graphic design and production, multimedia design and production, integration and installation of both original and rented exhibit experiences at four state museums in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Artifact-Rich Exhibition Design
As an exhibit designer with Exhibits Central, Becca led the design, project management, and installation oversight for thirteen different, artifact-rich, unique and traveling exhibitions, as well as a master interpretive plan and concept design for Fort Sumner State Monument.

Krent, Paffett, Carney, Design, Inc. [KPC] was a museum exhibit design consultancy that provided master planning, exhibit design, bid process, and contract administration services for museums.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Interactive & Immersive Museum Exhibition Design and Project Management
Becca became a museum exhibit designer while at KPC, developing client-facing designs in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe InDesign. Her sketch-style renderings became a hallmark of the office during her tenure there. Becca also produced fabricator-facing contract documents in Vectorworks. While at KPC, Becca applied the budget, scheduling, material selection and fabrication skills she acquired while at WB. Inc., and managed the fabrication and installation of several large exhibition projects including "Slavery in New York" for the New York Historical Society, "Lincoln, the Constitution, and the Civil War" for the National Constitution Center, and "History of Aviation" gallery for Virginia Air and Space Center.

WB Inc. is an exhibit fabrication production facility that produces exhibits for corporate trade shows, corporate events, and museum galleries. While at WB Inc., Becca learned how to detail exhibit designs for fabrication, to create graphic production files, and estimate projects' material and labor hours for production. At WB Inc. Becca participated in her first museum exhibition design project for New Bedford Whaling Museum. Becca supported the needs of curator, Michael Jehle, to produce a unique exhibition design for "Portraits of a Port: New Bedford Navigates the World" showcasing more than 100 artifacts from the museum's collection.
